Emotional abuse may not harm your body but it can be very bad for your self-esteem and mental health.


Emotional abuse is a form of domestic and family violence.

Examples of emotional abuse:


  • They put you down
  • They call you names
  • They make fun of you
  • Gaslighting - manipulative behaviour that makes you feel unsure of your own thoughts
  • They threaten you with violence
  • They threaten that they will self harm



Get Help


Emotional abuse is never okay. You never deserve abuse, no matter what you’ve said or done. The only person responsible is the one engaging in abusive behavior.
